dc.description.abstractThis study aimed at exploring learning strategies employed by prisoners on formal and vocational training in Luzira prisons, Uganda. It adopted across sectional survey design with a mixed methods approach to collect data, analyse and present the findings. The study found out that prisoners use a variety of learning strategies including: Metacognition, Rehearsal, elaboration, peer learning, cognitive learning and self-help learning strategies. From the study, there is need to widely establish the educational needs of prisoners as a special group for effective utilization of education as rehabilitative strategy.en_US
