A low-cost portable wireless ECG device
Abstract
Background: Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are a group of diseases of the heart and blood vessels, which include coronary heart diseases, cerebral vascular diseases, peripheral heart diseases, rhematic heart diseases. Globallly, cardiovascular diseases are the number one cause of death and they are projected to remain so, an estimated 17 million people died from CVDs in 2005 representing 30% of all global deaths. About 80% of these deaths occur in Low- and middle income countries and if the current trends continue, about 23.6 million people will die 2030 due to CVDs. Methodology: The proposal involves the design of portable ECG wireless device in resource constrained countries. Data collection tools such as interview guides and questionnaires will be used during the study. Furthermore, rapid prototyping models shall be used during the project lifecycle. Results.
